Spring Art Show 2019
These were the pieces I created for the Art Show this spring. I threw a total of 8 pieces, and included 7 in my show.
Artist Statement
This year, I am in Studio Workshop Ceramics, and I have learned so much more than I thought I would with Ms. Sanyour. I learned how to make all components of a teapot, including lidded forms. For my art show, I ended up making seven pieces in total, two hanging pots in a bowl form, with no feet, one small pitcher with a handle, two small cylinders, and two small plates/trays. I made two hanging pots with string strung through three holes. The planters are in bowl form, but they don’t have feet, only a consistently trimmed curve. I carved three small holes equal distance apart, to put string in. Then I tied the string together, made a loop, and hung them on a frame I built with my dad. I also threw two small cylinders for my little planters. Those have a small hole in the bottom for water to drain. To go along with my little planters, I made two trays in a plate form, with a higher side, to catch water from my planters. Last, I made a small pitcher form, to act as a watering can. I made a taller cylinder, and bellied it out and added an indention in the lip. Each of my pieces are dipped in white glaze, and the planters all have a different pattern hand-painted in black.
